About Peter Blackman
Growing up in Bethlehem, Peter always had a desire to run his own business. With the love of people and entertaining, the restaurant industry seemed like a perfect match for his passions and skill set. Peter worked his way up from host to General Manager within two years with White Management of Albany, NY. He served as General Manager of Mangia Slingerlands for 16 years while running multiple locations simultaneously before teaming up with Angelo Mazzone to co-own Aperitivo Bistro in Downtown Schenectady for eight fabulous years. After an attempt to pursue a career with more "normal" hours and regiment, Peter realized his true passion was the hospitality industry and purchased Mio Vino which he transformed into Veronica's Culinary Tavern where he hopes to inspire his employees to share his love of food, drink, and hospitality with the residents of the Capital Region and beyond.
About Alex Carusone
Alex Carusone is a graduate of Johnson & Whales who began his career at Disney in the Olivia Cafe and quickly moved up to the management team. Alex learned invaluable skills and techniques while at Disney which will always be strengths of his. He then discovered the Mission Point in Michigan where he worked his way up from line cook to sous chef running multiple kitchens on the property feeding upwards of a thousand satisfied guests a day. Since Mission Point was seasonal, Alex honed is skills during the off seasons working at several kitchens locally. After being as sous chef at Mio Vino in the fall of 2015 he was deservedly promoted to executive chef in the spring of 2016. Alex's passion for creative food utilizing local farms when feasible is showcased in every dish that leaves his kitchen. He is not satisfied just to prepare fabulous tasting food, it needs to have an evolution to it. As the driving force behind the future success of Veronica's Culinary Tavern, he truly hopes to look out the window of his open kitchen and see you smiling back at him with the satisfaction of another fantastic meal at Veronica's! Don't hesitate to ask about some of his recipes, he'll share but he's sure to “forget” an ingredient or two...but it will be enough to get you on the right path. He looks forward to sharing his culinary creations with you soon!
